Project Overview
Accurate weather forecasting is essential for success in naval operations, with precise weather parameter measurements playing a pivotal role, particularly on flight decks. Modern naval oper- ations rely on timely meteorological data, requiring specialized solutions for effective collection. This senior design project aims to develop a ship-launched small unmanned aerial system (sUAS) tailored for meteorological data collection. Key requirements include Ramp-Assisted Takeoff Capability, autonomous control, and mid-flight recharging with solar power to advance naval weather data collection, enhance forecasts, and improve operational safety and efficiency.
My Role
My contributions encompassed a deep-seated understanding and application of systems integration principles, controls, wiring intricacies, and propulsion dynamics. These elements were crucial in transforming theoretical designs into functional aerospace systems. I meticulously developed test plans and evaluation methodologies, ensuring rigorous performance assessments and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
